Who is Kraeyshawn anyway right?

To briefly put it in perspective for those who don't know, Kraeyshawn aka Natassia Zolot, is  a 21 year old white, female rapper, hailing from East Oakland California and the newest artist to emerge out of the 'hipster' rap scene. Think Casio watches, skinny jeans, backpacks, snapback caps etc- you get the pic.

The biggest hype surrounding her is over her YouTube Hit ''Gucci Gucci'', which can be described as a hip-hop equivalent to P!nk's 'Stupid Girls', otherwise known as 'basic bitches', of which she is apparently not a fan.''Gucci Gucci, Louis louis, Fendi, Fendi, Prada, Prada // Basic bitches wear that shit so I cant even bother''. The video has over 2million hits on YouTube. You can't deny it - the girl definitely has hype around her name.



However, her credibility is debatable. The first issue up for debate is the hood persona she brags of and its authenticity.
In an interview with iHipHop she claimed that

"All Star Weekend in L.A., we just ran around with guns and, like, tried to rob Yung Berg and like, hella s---, rappin' in front of everybody and yellin' at girls, liftin' girls skirts up, He was walkin' hella fast, we didn't even do it for serious like, 'Yo that's Yung Berg, let's go get his chain f--- it, everyone's robbed Yung Berg, it's gonna be hella easy!' but it wasn't like, serious."

The top rated comment at the time of posting is

 "look at me im white and i smoke weed and try to rob people, am i cool yet?" . 

It sums up her attitude perfectly. She comes across like type of girl they put in 'The Bad Girls Club' thinking they're going to run the house, only to find their mattress and suitcase in the drive way not even a week in. This is summarized in the whole concept of ''Gucci, Gucci'' in which she aims her hostility at a certain type of girl, because if she really was to attack anyone who really could hold their own.




Ok so, she does like she could be quite irritating and brattish. but I'm not here to analyse her personality.
I'm going to be honest and say not only is her swag ridiculous ( in the good sense) the girl does have talent. The lyrics are well written and catchy. In the same way artists like Soulja Boy did, she will inevitably recieve criticism from the ''hip-hop snobs'' who will call her trash, but fail to resist the temptation of singing along. Admittedly, she needs more than just one hit to solidify her relevance and OK, maybe she will never be lyrical in the way Foxy Brown, Jean Grea or Lauryn Hill were, and she may be a bit irritating but just admit you like the god damn song.

I have a total Love/Hate relationship with the girl.
