It pains me to say this this !!!! ... but I have to say I think Rihanna's latest beast is the better of the two *covers eyes*
Don't get me wrong, I have no qualms with Rihanna, in fact I'm a big fan, but in my eyes Beyonce is in a league of her own, so when she releases a 8/10 instead of a 10/10 it shows more.
Here are the two records: 'Man Down' and 'The Best You Never Had':
Rihanna - Man Down
This is is my favorite track of 'Loud', in fact its my favorite Rihanna track to date ! - I absolutely love it! Rihanna really comes into her own when she embraces her Caribbean Roots! The heavy reggae beat and her strong but sultry bajan accent are a perfect marriage. The video shows Rihanna plotting a revengeful attack in the city of Portland.
Beyonce - The Best Thing I Never Had:
Ok, so I think 'Man Down' is the better track, if we are two compare the two in a battle of The Diva's. But 'Best Thing I Never Had' is still a strong record. Her impressive vocals show strength and emotion are clearly present.
At her recent album listening party Queen B claimed that when recording her upcoming album, '4', she used her 'live voice' which she noticed was different in tone to her usual 'recording voice'. I hope she just doesn't over do it, as it can be slightly over-bearing when used too much.
