'Tha Carter 4', may have been pushed back, but the music is still coming.
New song 'How To Love', has split opinions amongst fans. For those expecting heavy hip-hop production, in the style of 'John' Featuring Rick Ross, this most probably wont be the track for you.
For this release, Wayne, refers to his more mellow side, which we are used to on tracks like 'Single' & 'P****, Money, Weed', however this time around it's not quite the same. His auto-tuned voice half sings, half mumbles over the melody of an acoustic an guitar. This is an admittedly obscure combination, which will no doubt receive heavy criticism from his hardcore hip hop audience, and probably fans of all musical genres, but for me theres something about it that just works, even though, maybe it shouldn't. The song is beautifully sincere and vulnerable, a rarity in modern popular music.
Weezy is no stranger to experimentation, as we all know from the release of his 2010 rock album 'rebirth', and I think the genre is blessed to have someone unafraid to push boundaries and develop the music in the way he does, even if he does heavily divide opinion.
